Aniimo launches free-to-play on 16 September 2026 at 10:00 UTC+8 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, the Epic Games Store, the Microsoft Store, iOS and Android. Two paid pre-order packs are already live, and the questions people keep asking are not about the packs themselves — they are about the plumbing underneath: which account owns your progress, what happens when you switch devices, and what you lose if you get the order wrong.
This guide answers those questions in the order they actually matter. Where the game has not published something, it says TBD rather than guessing.
The short answer
If you only read one paragraph: link every platform you intend to play on before you spend a single cent. Aniimo supports full cross-progression, but cross-progression protects the account you linked — not the device you happened to install on. Buy first and link later, and you are relying on customer support to fix an ordering mistake that was avoidable in thirty seconds.
Beyond that: the game is genuinely free, neither pack is an access tier, and the only item in either bundle with real long-term gameplay weight is the guaranteed Perfect-Potential Prismana egg.
How account linking works
Aniimo uses a unified account identity that sits above the individual storefronts. Your PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Epic and mobile installs all authenticate into the same game account rather than each holding a separate save. In practice that means the game asks you, at some point during first boot, to either create that identity or sign into an existing one.
The failure mode is well known from every other cross-platform gacha, and it is always the same: a player boots on console, taps through the account prompt to get into the tutorial faster, plays for six hours, then installs on mobile and finds an empty save. The console progress is not lost — it is attached to a platform-generated guest identity that was never linked to anything.
Do this on first boot
- Create or sign into the unified account before the tutorial, not after.
- From the account settings menu, link every other platform you own — console, PC storefront and mobile.
- Log in on a second device and confirm your Aniilog and squad carry over.
- Only then buy a pack or spend premium currency.
Thirty seconds of setup removes an entire category of launch-week problem.
What cross-progression actually covers
Confirmed: cross-play and cross-progression are supported between all launch platforms, and friend lists work across them. Your save file — captured Aniimo, Aniilog completion, Homeland, account level — moves with the account.
This matters more in Aniimo than it would in most games, because several of its core systems are gated by when and where you play. Creature spawns respond to weather, biome and time of day. Prismana forms only appear during a rainbow weather state governed by Prismana Flow. Homeland incubation runs on real-time timers you want to check between longer sessions. A player who can open the game on a phone at lunchtime and continue on PC that evening is meaningfully better positioned than one who cannot — not because they are better at the game, but because they intersect more spawn windows.
The pieces that are not confirmed portable are the storefront-side ones. Premium currency bought through the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store, the App Store or Google Play is subject to each platform's own wallet rules, and no announcement has clarified whether balances pool across platforms. Treat that as TBD and, if you care, make purchases from one platform only until it is answered.

Read that table honestly and the conclusion is straightforward: the extra $10 buys cosmetics. The doll and the avatar frame are presentation items. Every mechanically relevant reward in the Collector's Edition is already in the Advanced Edition.
Why the Prismana egg is the item that counts
Aniimo grades every creature with a Potential score — an appraised quality band running from Common up to Perfect — layered on top of four MBTI-style trait axes that each push specific stats. Two creatures of the same species and evolution stage are not equivalent; their Potential and traits decide how far they can be pushed through Resonance training later.
A guaranteed Perfect roll removes that variance entirely, and it does so on a Prismana-form creature — the premium variant tier that normally requires catching the right species during a rainbow weather window in the right region. That is the one item in either pack that a free-to-play player cannot simply grind toward on a predictable schedule.
Is a pre-order worth it?
Three honest cases:
- You are certain you will play past week one. The Advanced Edition at $9.99 is reasonable value, mostly for the guaranteed Perfect Prismana egg and the branching evolution material. Skip the Collector's Edition unless you specifically want the cosmetics.
- You are not sure yet. Buy nothing. The game is free, the packs are additive, and there is no evidence that pre-ordering gates any content. You can decide after playing.
- You want to support the game and like the extras. The Collector's Edition is a tip with a doll attached. That is a fine reason to buy it — just do not tell yourself it is a power purchase.
The correct order of operations
- Pre-order on the platform you will play most. Storefront entitlements attach to that storefront account.
- On launch day, boot on that same platform first.
- Create and sign into the unified account before the tutorial.
- Link every other platform immediately.
- Claim the pre-order rewards — they usually arrive in the in-game mailbox, and mailboxes expire.
- Verify on a second device before spending anything further.
Step five is the one people miss. Launch-window mail has a claim window, and "I will get it later" has ended more reward entitlements than any bug.
