Best Aniimo Team Compositions

Base stats are published in the official Aniilog, but they are only the species baseline — Potential grades and trait axes move every individual creature, and evolution is multi-branch. So these templates are built around combat roles rather than named units: they tell you what each slot has to accomplish, which stays true whichever Aniimo you actually caught.

The one rule that matters

Aniimo combat resolves around stagger. Break units strip enemy poise, that creates a damage window, and DPS units convert the window. A squad missing the first half of that sentence does not deal less damage — it deals its damage into a target that is still defending itself.

That is why every template below starts from a Break slot and asks what to spend the other two on. It is also why the honest answer to “is this Aniimo good?” before launch is usually “what role is it and do you already have one?”

The Default

Break → DPS → Sustain. The composition that works before you know anything.

  1. 1BreakStrips enemy poise and holds the front line while doing it.
  2. 2DPSYour Twine target once the stagger lands. Everything else exists to create this window.
  3. 3HealBurst recovery for the moments the Break unit mistimes a hold.

Use it for World exploration, first clears, anything you have not seen before.

Trade-off Low ceiling. It will clear content but it will not clear it fast.

Double Break

Two staggers, one payoff. For enemies with poise bars you cannot break alone.

  1. 1BreakPrimary stagger. Opens the bar.
  2. 2BreakSecond stagger with a different element, for enemies that resist the first.
  3. 3DPSSingle damage slot, but it gets a much longer window to work in.

Use it for World bosses and elite enemies with heavy poise. Also the safest Egg Heist opener.

Trade-off No dedicated sustain. Only viable if the second Break unit is tanky enough to substitute.

Attrition

Regen over Heal. Built for long fights rather than dangerous ones.

  1. 1RegenConstant over-time restoration instead of burst.
  2. 2BreakKeeps pressure off the Regen unit by controlling stagger windows.
  3. 3DPSSustained damage profile — you are optimising for total output, not spikes.

Use it for Long solo exploration, farming loops, anything where you leave and come back.

Trade-off Regen cannot save you from a burst mechanic. Bring Heal instead if you are getting one-shot.

Amplified

Support-led. The highest ceiling and the least forgiving.

  1. 1SupportDamage amplification, elemental application and field control.
  2. 2DPSA single, heavily invested damage unit. This is your Resonance-trained creature.
  3. 3BreakCreates the window the Support amplifies into.

Use it for Content you have already cleared and want to clear faster.

Trade-off No sustain at all. One mistake ends the run.

Traversal

Not a combat squad. The one you actually run while exploring Idyll.

  1. 1SupportA Wind-element unit for the mobility. Twining into Wind is the fastest way across the map.
  2. 2DPSFor the fights you cannot avoid on the way.
  3. 3RegenKeeps you topped up between encounters without a supply stop.

Use it for Aniilog filling, egg hunting, chasing Prismana weather windows.

Trade-off Loses badly to anything that fights back seriously. Swap before a boss.

Building for Twining, not just for the squad

Most team-building advice from other games assumes you stay outside the squad and direct it. Aniimo does not work that way. Twining lets you take a bonded creature’s form and play its kit yourself, which means every slot is simultaneously a squad member and a set of controls you might be holding.

Three habits follow from that:

  • Always keep an exit. Twining into your DPS with no second role ready is how you end a fight at 5% health with nothing to swap to.
  • Carry traversal deliberately. Wind Aniimo hold most of the roster’s mobility value. A squad with no Wind unit is a squad that walks.
  • Match the Twine to the question. Cross terrain, trigger an interaction, dodge pressure, or convert an elemental opening — decide which before you transform, not after.

Elements: what is actually confirmed

Every pairing sits in one of three bands: 1.6× on a favourable matchup, 0.625× on an unfavourable one, 1× otherwise. Weather participates too — rain has been confirmed to weaken Fire abilities in the field. The full nine-element chart is on the elements page.

Even so, treat elements as a tiebreaker between two role-correct options rather than as the primary axis of team building. Bringing a second Water unit because a boss is Fire is fine; dropping your only Break unit to do it is not — 1.6× on a unit that cannot create a damage window is still nothing.

Squad-building checklist

  1. One Break unit. Non-negotiable early.
  2. One DPS you are prepared to Resonance-train — not three you are not.
  3. One sustain slot: Heal for burst danger, Regen for long fights.
  4. A Wind unit somewhere for traversal, even if it is a swap.
  5. Check where a unit ranks before investing. See the tier list.

What is the best team composition in Aniimo?

Break → DPS → Sustain is the safest default. A Break unit strips enemy poise to create damage windows, a DPS converts those windows, and a Heal or Regen unit keeps the squad alive. Every other template is a variation that trades one of those three for more of another.

Do I need a Break unit in every Aniimo team?

Effectively yes, early on. Without a Break unit you have no reliable way to create stagger windows, and a squad with two damage dealers and no opener will lose to content that a Break-led squad clears comfortably.

Should I build around elements or roles?

Roles first, elements second. A favourable matchup is worth 1.6× and an unfavourable one 0.625×, which is significant — but a squad with no Break unit has no damage window to apply that multiplier to. Get the roles right, then use the element chart to choose between two role-correct options.

How does Twining affect team building?

Twining lets you take a creature’s form directly, so each slot is also a kit you might play yourself. Always keep a second role available before you Twine into a committed one — entering a fight as a DPS with no route back to sustain is how early runs end.

Is there an Aniimo tier list?

Base stats are public in the official Aniilog, but they are only the species baseline — individual creatures vary by Potential grade and four trait axes, and evolution is multi-branch. A single ranked list would hide all of that, so this page gives role-first templates while the Aniilog gives you the numbers to compare.
